Contact Options

Digital Diamond Baseball provides the ability to control the type of contact made by a batter when they make an out.  Contact probabilities are controlled using the Contact Options dialog.  You can access this dialog using the Options->Contact Options menu item.

The Contact Options dialog allows you to edit four different probabilities, and the sum of these probabilities must add up to 1000:

  • Ground Ball Probability: This option specifies the likelihood that contact made by a batter on an out will result in a ground ball.   This option must be between 0-999 and a value of 1 is equivalent to 0.1%.  For example, a value of 450 results in a 45% chance that an out will be made on a ground ball.
  • Fly Ball Probability: This option specifies the likelihood that contact made by a batter on an out will result in a fly ball.   This option must be between 0-999 and a value of 1 is equivalent to 0.1%.  For example, a value of 300 results in a 30% chance that an out will be made on a fly ball.
  • Line Drive Probability: This option specifies the likelihood that contact made by a batter on an out will result in a line drive.   This option must be between 0-999 and a value of 1 is equivalent to 0.1%.  For example, a value of 180 results in an 18% chance that an out will be made on a line drive.
  • Pop Up Probability: This option specifies the likelihood that contact made by a batter on an out will result in a pop up.   This option must be between 0-999 and a value of 1 is equivalent to 0.1%.  For example, a value of 70 results in a 7% chance that an out will be made on a pop up.
