1930 Season and walks...

Postby 32koufax » Mon Jan 08, 2018 3:02 pm

Hi Mark,
I've enabled auto calibration and have replayed 7- 1930 seasons. In real life, total walks numbered 7,645. An average DDB replay number is 8,546.
All other numbers, in my baseball replay world, are very acceptable.
Is there anything you can suggest (edit wise) to bring the walk numbers down?
Thx!

One thing I've noticed, while playing out games, is that when using the Morey option, walks tend to be on the high side, which offsets the BA being lower overall for the leagues (even though the probability chances are close to the same as when Morey is off) thus producing an OBA near real life. The BB% on the probability cards aren't that much different than if Morey is not used, but the results are different for some reason.

I did run a replay not using Morey and the overall league totals were very skewed... Much higher ERA, WHIP, similar BB's and K's were too high... Ugh... Hopefully, will hear from Mark... Thanks for responding though!!

Well, not using Morey tends to lead to higher HR totals, but that is seen on the probability chart. Other than that, the chart between morey and non-morey is very similar, but the actual results are a lot different.

Whether using Morey or Bill James, the walk numbers, either way are skewed to the high end. I've had the same results in '61 and '62 replays... Frustrating to me since other stats are so good!

The problem is that the probabilties are correct on the chart. What causes the results, especially walks, to be consistantly off is what I don’t understand.

I'm with you... Don't know why when sooo many of the other numbers are very strong. Oh well...

Hi Guys,

Thanks for posting this issue. This is going to take some investigation on my part. Nothing is jumping out at me as an obvious cause or solution. I am working on V7 right now, and will keep an eye on this. If the fix is an easy one, I can release another version for V6 so you don't have to wait for V7. If the fix is complicated, then we may have to wait until V7 goes live on opening day.

I will keep you posted.
Thanks!
Cheers,

Actually, we were tricking you into telling us when version 7 is going to be released. :)

Just kidding.

Thanks for keeping an eye out.
